What is Word Study?
Children will come to me at different levels of spelling. I will do my best to determine the "stage of development" or the child's spelling level and will then teach the children at their individual levels. We will start the year with a spelling inventory which will help me determine the stage of development. I will then test the children again in the middle of the year and the end of the year to determine the amount of progress the children have made.
Word Study homework will be assigned nightly. Children will be tested on their Word Study words on Friday.
Here are the types of homework activities that could be assigned:

You must use alliteration in your sentence, that is, your sentences must have a repeating sound at the beginning of words. Sentences must have capitalization, punctuation, and at least 5 words.
